puzzling

Amusing things I’ve read recently:

“Josiah!  Just a guess… I haven’t even looked at the puzzle, but it’s my brother’s name and seems to fit the categories.  Maybe I’m right?”

“Well, I had just a few minutes to spend on the puzzle this evening, and apparently, he will be Amado Varfanseartlibamacies Gjertsen.  Fantastic choice–I love it!!!”

“OHHH YAY!! It definitely was a mental workout, but soo worth it!”

“You are totally crazy and one day I’m going to tell your son about this.  I’m saving this puzzle and making him do it.”

Eleven days ago I posted a gift to my son and to all those who enjoy a bit of wordplay. Today, for Father’s Day, I offer a gift to the rest of you out there—the completed puzzle. I had a lot of fun making it, and it may not be the last double crostic you see on the House of Gjertsen.

We’ll post soon about why we picked the name.

  1. Now that is a beautiful name, and it will work throughout #3’s life. A strong, successful name.

I am glad we can stop calling him #3.

One could argue for the nickname Trace (or tres) … just because everyone has known the little guy as #3 for so long!

  2. Fantastic choice–I love it!! 😀

Seriously. When he gets a little sister, you are going to have to name her Honor or Glory!!

  3. I’ve been following your blog via cake wrecks…

We only have one child so far, but we plan for all of them to have latinate, meaningful names. the first is “Constance,” and if we have a boy, I’ve been thinking about “Valor,” also! It is an AWESOME name- different, meaningful, and able to be shortened to a manageable nickname if necessary. 🙂

  4. How wonderful to call him by his real name! (Instead of referring to him as “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named”) As a grandma and early puzzle solver, it has been hard to hold my tongue until the official announcement.

    Bottle Woman

  5. Ah ha! I like it. I solved the puzzle but couldn’t come up with the name. I had Salve… something. hehe. But you sure have some talent with those puzzles! Looking forward to the story.
